Haleigh Cummings–What really happened:

Author: Steven Kerry Brown
21.04.2013

Hank Croslin called me one night and said I had to go out right then and talk to Chuck. Chuck knew everything that happened to Haleigh. I met Chuck the next morning at the Dunkin Donuts in Palaka.

When I first talked to Chuck and he mentioned that Haleigh’s throat was cut. I completely dismissed what he told me. Later, I came to believe that this might have indeed happened. It was too outrageous for me to get my head around it at that time. I did record this conversation with Chuck and later gave a copy of the recording to the PCSO. We’ll talk about that later. I changed Chucks name and deleted some other names of people who have not been publicly associated with the Haleigh Cummings case. Those known to be associated with Misty and the events of that night, I have left their names in. This conversation with Chuck was  in September 2009, well before anything had been said about shell harbor.

Steve Brown

The following investigation was conducted by Steven K. Brown of Millennial Investigative Agency on September 11, 2009.  The following individual was present:  Chuck.

Chuck stated that he had a great desire to help in any way that he could to help solve this case.  Amber Brooks and Kristina Prevatt (aka NayNay) were known prostitutes.  Amber has a baby by Ronald Cummings.

Chuck stated that the rumor that he has heard regarding the three day weekend involved Misty Croslin, Amber Brooks, Kristina Prevatt, Greg Paige (aka, White Boy Greg) and Luckadue (Chuck did not know his real name, he thinks Luckadue is his real last name)  Chuck stated that Luckadue is Black and White Boy Greg is mixed.  Chuck stated that all of them have been questioned by the police.  Chuck stated that he was not with the above mentioned people on the weekend in question.  Chuck got his information about the weekend from the girls because they were very close with him. Chuck said he has known them for quite a while.  He said that they would get together and “party”.  Chuck defined partying as getting together and hanging out and drinking and maybe smoking some marijuana.  Chuck stated that the girls would do more drugs, but he did not but he did drink mostly Jim Bean and Crown Royal which is his favorite.  Chuck stated that Misty is known to have a drug problem.  Chuck said that he was aware that she has smoked crack and takes pain pills, etc.  Pills like Roxies and pain pills etc.

Chuck stated that he has heard that it is Misty that is responsible for what happened to Haleigh.  Chuck could not get specific information regarding who would have cut Haleigh’s throat.  He stated that everyone is pointing the finger at Misty saying she did it to keep herself from getting in trouble with Ronald.  Chuck stated that they cut her throat so that it would bleed and attract the alligators to the body.  Chuck stated that he got his information from Amber Brooks and Kristina Prevatt.  Chuck stated that Kristina was talking to another individual and he was there listening and that is how he got his information from Kristina.  Chuck stated that she was telling this information to Jerome Williams and a couple of other “brothers”.  Chuck stated that both he and Jerome went to the police with the information.

Chuck stated that he has heard the following accounts of the morning in question:  They were all partying, they were high, and they were drunk.  The baby got a hold of some narcotics and overdosed on the narcotics.  Chuck stated that there is also a rumor that stated that the baby’s throat got cut and was thrown into the lake.  Chuck said that the people he has heard that was “there” was:  Kristina Prevatt. Amber Brooks was not there because she and Misty had gotten into an argument (about what he was not sure) and they were no longer friends so she left earlier that evening.  Chuck stated that White Boy Greg, Luckadue and Kristina Prevatt and some other people that Chuck did not know were at Misty’s that evening.  Chuck stated that everyone knew that Ronald Cummings was not at the party and most people agree that he was at work.

Now I don’t personally believe the story that Haleigh overdosed on drugs  that caused  Haleigh’s death. We’ll get more into that in the next post. If there is any doubt about Nay Nay’s chosen profession see the below photos taken from the site BackPage:

I know many of you have been waiting for the next Haleigh Cummings blog post. It has been uploaded and will appear on Sunday, probably in the evening. In the mean time, I’d like you to consider taking a look at my latest book, 5 Things Women Need to Know About the Men They Date.

It is available on Amazon as an e-book for $4.95 and as a paperback for $7.95. Frankly it’s not very long (77 pages) and can be read in one sitting. However, I think you’ll be entertained by the stories as well as learning some things. It’s good for both men and women who are in the dating scene, regardless of your age. For $4.95 don’t take a chance on a new person in your life until you read this book.

This is from the forward in the book:   This book is not a work of fiction. It is based on true cases worked by the author. The names, locations, amounts of money involved, and in some instances other details have been changed to protect the privacy of my clients and also those scumbags who took advantage of my clients.

Frank Green, Jeffrey "Hammerhead" Philips and Me

In my last post my post I mentioned I had the cytomegalovirus. I have been receiving daily infusions (seven days a week) of foscarnet  which is a drug designed to control the virus. If we can get the CMV count down to zero twice then we will discontinue the treatments but monitor the CMV counts. The foscarnet kicks my butt.

Last week two of my good friends paid me a visit. Frank Green, who has taught me more about the craft of writing than anybody. He is truly a master of the Word. He holds a free writer’s workshop in his home every Wednesday night and has for twenty years. Frank has crewed for me on my boat and I have killed him three times but each time he has resurrected. His doctor won’t let him travel with me any more.

The other friend was Jeffrey “Hammerhead” Philips who has also crewed for me. I’ve known Jeffrey for almost 20 years. He is a terrific writer and you can buy his book Murder on Devil Ray Reef by clicking on the book cover to the left of this post. It’s a terrific read and I recommend it.

It is good to have friends who support you when times are tough. They stayed with me while I slept through part of the 3 1/2 hour infusion process and then we made a quick run to the store.

Trying to knock out the CMV

Thank you to all of my friends.

Frozen Towels on Steve trying to reduce fever of 103.6

First I want thank all of you who have donated to the Steve Brown Bone Marrow Transplant  Fund. Your continuing donationas are of tremendous help to me. I have to add a new drug to the plethora drugs they already have me on. They said they had to get “prior authorization” for it. So I suggested I just go ahead and buy it. It is kind of critical that I get it. I asked how much it was and the pharmacist  said a 30 day supply of these pills sells for (are you sitting down?) $6000. The donate button to the left still works. Thank you so much.

Sorry that I have been missing in action latley. These last three weeks have been particularly rough. The good news is that they did the DNA tests on me and the donor grafted in 100% . So that is excellent. Once the donor grafts he begins to reject my body. This called graft vs host disease. He attacks my various organs. So far he has attacked my skin and my eyes.

I have not been able to read a computera screen for 3 weeks. But it is better  today. I had to be readmitted to the hospital twice because of fevers in the 103.6 range. I was back in for 8 days. Out for 3 days and then back in for another 8. Now I am out staying in this apartment close to Shands Cancer Hospital in Gainesville Fl with a 24   Hour hour caregiver.

My good writing buddy Jeffrey “hammerhead ” Philips came up and relieved my wife for a few days as my caregiver. That was the second time my fever went off the charts. So we wet towels and put them in the freezer. Then laid them all over my body to reduce the fever. It is really very effective . But once I started vomiting we decided to head for the hospital . Good move  because I was inpatient there for another 8 days.

Murder on Devil Ray Reef

While diving on Jesse Stoker’s boat, Cassandra, a local radio personality awaiting contact with extraterrestrials, disappears. Stoker considers her
a hoaxster,  but allowed the charter because the bank is ready to repossess his vessel.
Cassandra’s body is found three days later, but the M.E. finds she’s only been dead for five hours. Once it’s known that Stoker filled her tanks and she died
from oxygen poisoning, he becomes the prime suspect. He’s never lost a diver before, doesn’t  believe in alien abduction, and doesn’t believe she just died.
To clear his name, stop a wrongful death suit, and save his livelihood, Stoker must figure out where Cassandra spent the missing days and find her killer.
I hope the above blurb enticies you to purchase the novel.

Several have asked “Where is Devil Ray Reef?’ Those of you who dive off the coast of West Palm Beach, Florida may say it sounds like Breaker’s Reef just south of the King Neptune statue. Yes, the Greek god is still there, just slowly being buried by sand. He stood tall for over 40 years, but finally a winter storm knocked him down. But that area is not Devil Ray Reef.
However, if you continue to drift north, past the northern edge of the reef and kick to the west for a few minutes, you’ll find Turtle Mound. A fish covered reef with ledges on the southern and western side, grass flats on top where turtles are easy to spot in the summer. I changed the name because, well, Murder on Turtle Mound did not sound all that exciting.

Turtle Mound was always one of my favorite dive sites. As a dive guide and with a gentle current, I’d request the boat captain to drop us on this site for our second dive of the day. New divers and experienced divers love it. Leaving Breaker’s Reef and gliding across the white rippled sand to Turtle Mound, one would often see southern rays. Their eyes peaking above the substrate, allowing the diver to approach. Then when too close, the animal would rise gracefully off the bottom and curl his wings as he headed into the blue leaving a trail of sand like a jet’s contrail.
The ledges and undercuts are home to lobsters, green morays, snappers, and trumpet fish. In the summer, each month brings a different species of turtle (leatherback, loggerhead, hawksbill, green) that rest in the soft corals that grace the top of the mound and flows along the northern edge.
But, you say, where are the mantas, the correct name for devil rays. Many times as I left the reef and let the current carry me northward, I’d find two or three skimming the bottom. This always happened on one of those lazy, hot August days when the visibility exceeded over 100 feet. With their white belly, black back, and scooped mouth, the rays would circle once or twice, pass overhead, then disappear. Thus, I felt it was OK to change the name of the reef for the book.
For those of you who like to scuba dive and have never tried the sixty-foot reefs of West Palm Beach, I encourage you to do so.  Hope to see you on the reef.
